If they are on my island, I'll bet they are very solid..... $550 http://www.usedvictoria.com/classified-ad/1977-Ford-Thunderbird_18260146 $1500 http://www.usedvictoria.com/classified-ad/1978-Ford-Thunderbird_17901514
Tedy, you tease! Damn, I would love the 78 Diamond Edition. That is a rare one. Too bad they are so far away! have to save shekels, that's all there is to it! Best, no border to cross bringing them home! Mind you, when the time comes, it will be the wagon version I am going to look for! I need a wagon!
The Diamond Edition needs an upper rad hose to run. That is $16! From Napa. It would be in hand over night. I know, last week i did the upper rad hose on Nora. Who scraps a car for a $16 wear item?
Rev: The buckets and console were not available on the Diamond or Heritage editions. Full gauges, however, were standard, and this one has that. One thing with the Diamond and Heritage editions is that the carpet in the trunk is the same grade of carpet used in the passenger compartment of the Grand Marquis and Crown Victoria LS sedans and wagons in the late 80s. That 78 Diamond is priced right in around scrap price, too.
here we go againdont mean to argue...but... I had a 78/79 (10 years ago)like the first one....Powder Blue with white roof...all original....and you guessed it....it had Buckets and console !!! and i bought a 2nd one...Identical that was smashed in the rear just for parts...and it had a sunroof too !! Its still running around town
Rev: According to the 79 sales brochure, the Heritage Edition was available in light blue enamel with dark blue tops, and a choice of blue leather or blue cloth interior, with the 50/50 split bench seat. The only other colour available was the dark burgundy enamel and matching vinyl tops with the red interior, same choices of materials. Sliding sun roof or moon roof as well as the t-top were all available. With the t-top, the front vinyl roof was deleted. Only the Heritage came with the blanked out quarter windows. Bench or bucket seats were available in the regular model as well as in the Towne Landau package in any standard colour, including white. Nora is a base model car with the Towne Landau seats in white leather (what leather hasn't been destroyed by the dogs, that is).
well...i cant recall if it was a 78 or 79 (too much time has past) and when i say buckets...you know what I mean right...they were tough to call buckets......but they were seperate(dark blue cloth)...and the console ran thru them with a Arm Rest cubby hole thingy at the end I probably have pics in here somewhere...mind ya...they would be with the Fiero buckets ...but the stock console! and now that im really thunkin about...the roof may have been a powder blue when I got it...but it ended up White Stovebolt ended up with it
This is the 79 Heritage Edition in "Heritage Medium Light Blue Enamel" from the sales brochure. It was only available in this and the burgundy enamel according to the brochure. Other colours for the top and interior were not mentioned at all, even as options. I can see enough details on your example to know that it was customized. It may have been made into a Heritage, but if the brochure is correct, there is no way it si stock.
Here's a normal 79 painted that same light blue enamel of yours, Rev. Buckets and console were definitely available in white with that colour, but as far as I know, not as part of the Heritage Edition. Yours was a 79, by the way. It has the 79 grill, and I'm betting that the brake lights were 2 separate lenses with the back up lamps mounted between them.
There is that green 77 Cougar Villager in Indiana on eBay now, it didn't sell for the $750 last time (buyer backed out) and now it's up to $585, ending Sunday night. http://search.ebay.com/280990309013 NO WOOD and is green on green and if I don't get the red '76 Gran Torino sedan in Denver ending that afternoon I may go ahead and get the wagon as I'll have time to prepare to bid.
That looks like it has a lot of potential. That Light jade Green over Jade green is a nice combo when everything is fresh. Oh, and it is the same car under the skin as your Torino.
Yup, that's why I figure it's a good choice as a runner up. I would prefer an LTD II over a Cougar but beggars can't be choosers and at my price point I should be glad I'm not driving a Grand Am with questionable body integrity:
