Well, looks like this Tuesday is departure day. Several of us will be using our wagons for this one. Should be a ton of fun. If any of you are in the Lynden, WA area on Saturday there is an open house on the trailers. Usually there are well over 100 vintage trailers of all makes and states of restoration in attendance. For anyone with a vintage trailer these are great events to attend, very family oriented, great gatherings. I'm so excited I've already packed most of the trailer, heck, I might even wash the Safari.

We might even convince REV to show up. He's got a gorgeous trailer, and his tow vehicles always surprise and delight the crowds. CS54 will be there with his '54, Bill will be there Friday night only with his '62 Merc, and there are typically another 6 to 10 wagons and then some early 'burbs in attendance. Life is good!

Yes sir. But we never looked at any stinkin old trailers, old cars, especially station wagons, and I didn't have fun!

Ooops. There's a nice old Yellowstone RV in the barn next to my son's place. Almost tried to buy it. Only a 16 footer but has a bathroom.

And I did sort of go to a large downtown car show and maybe a cruise nite or three. And several buddys have junky old street rods in their garages. But I never looked or touched----much! Damned that ole hearse was sort of nice.

And it may have been a little fun free loading and eating food that others either bought or prepared. But it was all my wife's fault. I didn't wanna have fun!:rednose::mad:

And i sure don't call driving to Illinois in 100+ degrees galavantin.

Well, I sure hope REV decides to join us. He has such a neat set up and it really attracts people. Mine on the other hand is more like what CAT says, just an old wagon with an old trailer, but we have fun with it. Heck, I even washed and waxed the wagon today - first time this year. Life is good, and camping just takes all the stress out of things.

Tedy, my buddy lives next door to the owner of the roofing company. He has agreed to keep an eye on things and he is very particular, has done roofs himself in the past, and happens to drive a '57 Pontiac 2dr Post with 383/T350, tri-power, 8-3/4 rear, bought it the same time I bought my wagon in '81 and we built them at the same time, helping each other along the way. So he will make sure if nothing else that the shop is water tight and heck, the house is the wife's so she can deal with it :whew:

What an event. 137 Vintage rigs of all sorts. Ummm, what camera? OK, I took a few early one, then forgot as so many folks were pulling in and we were out and about saying hi, how are you, glad to see you, what the heck is that you are towing (or towing with)?

Had the wagon the first day and a half, just before we left though I put the flex plate inspection cover on and it was hitting the ring gear (I'm hoping that is what it is). So we drove back up across the border and put it on the hoist in my garage but could not work on it as we have roofers here doing the house and garage and we were "in the way". I'll have a look this week, once they are finished.

So, there I was with my truck instead of my wagon and I admit it was extremely disappointing. I love my wagon, it tows the Airstream beautifully, and there were so many other wagons and other vintage tow vehicles there and mine was sitting alone at home (well, beside the Chevelle, but you know what I mean).

I guess I could have forced the issue and tackled removing the cover on Wednesday and then driven it back without the inspection cover on it but we lost our little fur-kid of 17 years on Monday and our hearts just were not in to much except grieving and spending time with new and old friends trying to keep distracted. Since he spent most of his day time watching me in the shop, or luring me to emergency naps and petting sessions on the lawn or even the shop floor, I just could not handle being there without him this soon. I know many of you do not like cats, many of you do, but this little guy was more like a pup than a cat. He followed us everywhere, camped with us, was never allowed outside without one of us being with him and when we said "no" he stopped what ever it was he was doing. Going to miss my shop/camping/snoozing buddy big time. He was a rescue, we will do that again in the future but for now need time to heal. So the wagon will get tackled later this week (the house roof is almost done, the shop they start tomorrow), and when I download the few pictures I did manage to take I will post them. I suspect/hope that Rev was able to load up on pictures.

It was a real treat to spend time with "the Man" and his family. Real nice folks, down to earth, very considerate of their fellow campers. And nice to have another "wagon person" to talk serious wagon stuff with along with CS54 and I, who was also in attendance. Bill showed up Friday but he too had wagon issues so his Meteor did not make the trip. So between myself, Rev and Bill, and several others, there could have been another four to six wagons there had we had our stuffing together.

On Saturday late a lady pulled in with a beautifully restored '55 BelAir wagon, 4 door, blue and blue-gray, very nice set up, pulling her small Scotty trailer done in matching colors. Dynamite set up. She had a '50 Suburban that was in dire need of restoration and a fellow traded her virtually straight across for the aforementioned wagon. I can't help but think that she came out of that deal real well. The wagon is updated with disc brakes, set up for towing already, interior done as well as the entire running gear.

So sorry to hear about your little friend, Saf. They become part of us and part of the family. You did have 17 years of pleasure from the little guy and that's hard to lose. But, 17 years is a long life for him and it was time for him to go. I hope you heal soon and go on with your happy and pleasant life.
Can't wait to see your pix and, even in your grief, I hope you and your wife had a good time with your trailer friends.
