i see the cargo glass is still there ... are you still planning to take it? If not, I am interested. Maybe the wheels and tires, too if they are decent rollers and you're willing to part with them.
Good to know Norm. PVAN: I will PM you. The wheels on the RW don't match. Their 14's on the front, and color correct 15's on the rear. The RW seemed to have a fair amount of options on the car. So I maybe the 15's came with the car? I would be hesitant to sell the wheels and tires off the RW anyway because I need them for the new owner to move the car around. However, I do have a set of 15's that I got with the CS that I was going to sell. They have some decent wheels, trim rings and dog dish caps. The tires are Douglas white walls size 205-75/15. They have a date of 1800, which I read to May, 2000. You guys will have to tell me for sure what year these are. The dog dish from the RW are banged up a lot more, but have a different style.
Winged One, you should take a look through these original sales brochures. Might fill in the blanks and help your sales pitche$$$! http://www.lov2xlr8.no/ford.html Here's the home page for the other Brochures (MERC, Etc.) http://www.lov2xlr8.no/broch1.html And... The real Home Page to all the other EYE-CANDY! http://www.lov2xlr8.no/index.html
Am I breaking the rules here talking about these things? Sorry, didn't mean too. I didn't put any prices on here just to stay in the clear.
Oh good. Off she goes. The Ranch Wagon that is. I hope the frame and body make it to the next owner. I got everything I could from her. Choked me up more when the old girl left, than a lot of my nicer cars I have sold over the years. I guess because she gave so much. I also spent most of the day cleaning and painting parts from RW for use in the CS. Very productive day. I had bought 3 additional cans of paint, but after the long cargo "liner" took a whole can, and still needs more, I may have to get more later. That long "liner" (for lack of a better word) looks much better, but still needs more paint. I don't think the paint was to blame, or me for that matter. I think it is just too much to ask of a rattle can. I will try to make it look better with another can. I just don't have any other options. But other parts, metal, plastic and vinyl, are looking great. Looking forward to doing more tomorrow.
The old RW will live on and in more places than one, keep at it and I am looking forward to the finished product.
One of the two cargo plastic liners passenger side, ready to be painted. The same piece after a full can of SEM paint. It looks a lot darker only because of the lighting. The paint continues to match up with the light Parchment original quite well. Those plastic pieces just eat up the paint. I was able to get the one piece long plastic liner to look good, but all told, it took at least a can and 1/2. I have gone through 4 cans. But I have just one more large plastic piece to do (the spare tire cover). I am going to also paint the metal tailgate inside cover and the floor of the cargo area. I do not want to have to remove the entire cargo floor, so I am going to try and figure out a way to seal off the rest of the car, once the floor is ready for paint, and paint it in place. Lots of plastic I would guess to seal the car off. I am going to get 3 more cans. Luckily, it is easily obtained locally. That's a ways down the road though. The exterior is going to be done first.
Finally got the estimate of fixing panels and painting the Country Sedan. Where I figured. More rust issues than I thought, though. It would be very helpful to find a quarter panel for the driver side. I have one for the passenger side and thought I was good. But it looks like we may need one for the driver side. Cannot find one on Ebay or other outlets (Green Sales, etc). If you have any ideas, let me know. The Ranch Wagon QP's were even worse.
Might be useful for other rusty metal panels: http://www.classicsheetmetal.com/ford65.html Some Fibreglass panels and floor pans: http://www.usbody.com/ You'll want to keep this link: http://www.showcars-bodyparts.com/catalogue.html This is the Ford page and they have some QPs! http://www.showcars-bodyparts.com/ford55up.html This will help when you start drooling about a 1957 to 1959 Sunliner: http://www.classicent.com/ford.php I do. Here's a Canadian dealer, who also sells stuff for owners on the US side (ND, SD, Montana, etc.) Central North American cars of those years never saw roadsalt ubtil 1965-1966, so you might get lucky with a good one. Thanks Norman! I will try those by phone. None list anything specifically what I needed, but a lot of times these guys don't bother to keep their sites up to date with the tons of material they carry. The CS goes in the Tuesday after Labor day. Silly boy me thought this would take a month or two. Next summer is more like it. Wow. This actually works out well, for the most part. In Michigan I wouldn't be driving it very soon anyway, and it free's up garage space so I don't have to put the T-Bird into storage for the winter. Everything will be inside. Guess I was busting my hump on the getting the inside pieces from the RW all done up for nothing. Not going in until next year sometime anyway! LOL Ah.... rookies. One thing you should know about me. I have no patience. I am going to be like a stallion biting at the bit all winter. My wife is so lucky. It will give me a lot of time to try and polish up the trim.
Try Greg at Stilwell Obsolete in Indiana, he always has NOS stuff on Ebay, he can be reached at 812-425-4794. Good luck!
