Hey guys, I'm new to this forum. I have been looking for a wagon like the one my dad used to own back in the late 70's and 80's for quite some time now. That one was a 74 Satellite Custom Wagon. Unfortunately, I was not able to find an exact match but when I ran across this one, I couldn't pass it up. It's a 72 Satellite Regent Wagon. Interior is in fair/good shape and the entire bottom is well undercoated and has no rust at all. There is some surface rust and a few spots with moderate rust and small holes. there is a little damage to the front which need to find some replacement parts for but it runs pretty well and shifts fine. I actually drove it home over 50 miles. If you all know where I can find parts for it near Georgia... please let em know. I plan to work on it over time... I just want to get it cleaned up and more road worthy. Eventually, I plan to add headers, dual exhaust and nice wheels... not too much more than that for mods... but still on the fence weather to leave the color original or to change it.

    Great find!
Nice Old Mopars are rare, I'm sure you know why.
For that reason I might suggest that you keep to the original stock appearance as much as you can.
If you want to warm up the performance a bit, try to find a police car for suspension parts......
Anyway, good luck with your project!

You found a sweet one there! I haven't seen one in years. Around here, they rusted out much faster than they wore out. The good news is that the damage to the front should be fairly easy to fix, since the front clip is the same on the sedan and wagon, except for the trim bordering the wood paneling. I would be tempted to keep the original colour simply because the old girl is so rare. Unless you are doing a nut and bolt tear down.

Thanks! I'm starting to think I need to keep this thing mostly original... and only make changes that can be easily backed out (keep old wheels and hubcaps, keep original exhaust manifold) but as for paint... keep the original color in all the "hidden spaces" (door jams, under the hood etc) and maybe just upgrade the outside color to match but maybe more modern... will keep you all posted on how we move along and put up pics.

Great car! Our family wagon back in the 70s was a '72 Plymouth Fury.

A good weekend spent cleaning and rubbing on your wagon should yield a pretty fine specimen.

It's your car to do with as you please.:yup: If it was mine I would leave that color combo alone. I love it. It is a period perfect car as it sits. If it needed paint I would paint it the same as the factory color. I would even leave the wheels and everything else alone, too. That car deserves to keep its natural good looks after surviving this long. But...that's just me.

Good score! I'm glad the wagon found a good home, I saw it listed and was really tempted, it looked like a good price. I'm sure after a good bath, she'll look even better!

What part of GA are you?
    I'm just north of Macon.

Thanks! I'm in Woodstock. Please PM me if you know of any junk yards in GA that would have parts for this car. She runs pretty good but I need the front clip or will have to spend a lot of time banging out the dents. hoping the 4 door has the exact same clip and I can grab all the stuff...

That's a rare find! Keep it stock when you fix it up. Those old Mopar wagons are really hard to find.

    First off, very nice find!

I completely agree with him. If you do decide to get rid of any stock parts please keep me in mind. Personally, it looks pretty clean and decent. Just needs to be cleaned.
As for the front clip, wagons share body panels with four doors from the front doors forwards. However you wont have the tabs and holes for the trim on a 4 door car, but that is easily fixed with a drill and "replacement" tabs (screws made to fix broken trim clip tabs).

While you're at it, take a look through my images and look at my car. It should look very familiar. ;)

Your wagon is famous! It's one of the first hits you get when googling for a Satellite Wagon. It represents the brand very well!

As for mine... to tell you the truth, the more we clean it the more I'm starting to grow to the original styling and colors, at this point we are still in the "Deep Cleaning" phase. Man this thing was nasty! So for now anyway, I will keep looking for replacement parts but first will just get it cleaned, running and start enjoying it on weekends and take it to cruise inns. Besides the engine being changed out (still has a 318 just not matching numbers) it's very original. I'm hoping a good cleaning and replacing the carpets will be enough in the interior. There are a few minor things like broken HVAC controls, broken clock, exhaust leak... but for the most part she's drive-able. There is supposedly a huge swap meet down south Georga around Thanksgiving, I'm hoping to go check it out... hope to have the wagon trustworthy by then.

I am planning to change out the wheels but will keep the original wheels and hubcaps. Mostly cause I like wider bigger tires.

Back to scrubbing this dirty girl!
