Watch the used price jump sky high on these...sedan and wagons both! I always did like them and almost bought a wagon model a couple of years ago when they were affordable. Since then, the price has gone way up. I can't imagine how they could go much higher than seller's already think they are worth, but, after this article...........????

Beautiful car. Always liked that body style. However I can't figure out how he could drive that many miles unless he lived in it and used it for long trips for work.
    Still a good story.

That's 65,000 miles a year. That seems a little improbable. That's a lot of money in gas.

I'm inclined to agree, freek. I remember when I was REAL busy in my business I would drive to Green Bay, Chicago, Minneapolis. I bought a new car at that time and put over 50K miles on it the first year and I drove more than I ever wanted to drive again. To put 65K on a car every year consistently would be a chore for that many years! OTOH, I think Guiness requires stringent rules of proof for any record. I don't know what to think. If it's true....that guy has to HATE driving by now!:D

I used to drive a big rig and go camping most weekends except winters. Plus drive our old cars a lot. Just went 1000 miles to and from Illinois and I dread going back again next week! I'll swear a mile is a lot farther than it used to was!:rofl2:Probably this new interstate system numbering.

i would agree if i didnt see 32,000 miles a year myself. my little yellow 02 focus zx3. i was a full time college student in Ft lauterdale. and when you go places that are far away...but because you have an 8 lane high speed road....you tend to go places more often. i used to go from my apartment on glades rd. down to north hollywood beach just because the trees were spaced perfectly for my hammock. then i met Jenn. i came home over ever holiday and long weekend. When i came home i stayed with my mom and she was 55 miles away from where Jenn lived. so...back and forth back and forth. When i was in Florida i would go to my dads once a month after he moved up to Tallahassee.

I traded my Focus in, 1 month shy of 3 years with 95,000mi + on the clock. my mom lives 60 miles away from me and my best friend lives 30 miles away. i have had this current focus 2 months and i have 4000 miles on her.

The man who has documented it in the official Volvo magazine is a customer at my dealership.

    So yes, I know (y)

A friend has one of these tucked away for "future". He had one when it was almost new, bought it from his brother who had bought it new. After selling it and then much remorse he found another and tucked it away beside the Benz roadster he bought and also still has, beside his 40 Ford pickup hotrod, beside his 57 ranchero, beside - yes, the list goes on, and on.

Wasn't this the car they used in The Saint series?

I have always coveted the wagon version.

Correct. According to my very brief research, they used three, a 62, 65, and 67:

I can remember when this P1800 was documented by Guinness as the first gasoline fueled passenger car to reach the million mile mark. If you have the car serviced at Volvo, or can document the mileage to their satisfaction, Volvo has a high mileage club. The first badge is awarded at 162,000 kms, or 100,000 miles. Ma's 1990 245, Arthur, proudly wears his on the front grill. At the rate she's adding miles, I doubt Ma will see Arthur hit the 200,000, but she's trying! These old Volvo engines are incredible. In 22 years and 230,000 kms, we can count on NO fingers the number of times the oil has had to be topped up between changes.

OK - he's has the engine rebuilt 2 or 3 times, which ain't bad for almost 3 million miles. I'm wondering about his seat........

At (let's say) an overall average of 45mph (probably a bit on the high side), that's over 7 1/2 YEARS behind the wheel - non-stop.
