Hi everyone my name is Jeff Rich I'm from Illinois and I have a 67 Chevelle wagon that was originally a 375hp 396 w/ac that currently has a small block w/no ac. We bought it in Key Largo Fla. November 2011 and drove it home with only minor electrical issues and 14 mpg. We are currently fixing a few flaws in the body (previous owners bad body work) and rust in windshield channel. My wife says the car must stay as close to original as possible so we are going to build a 396 to put back in. The previous owner started to build a "Phantom" SS wagon (emblems, dash, seats, hood) using parts and the front clip from a 66 SS, and for now we are going to build from that.
There is not much I can do for your addiction and place of residence. Sounds to me you are hopeless! But you should blend in with others around that area. However I am surprised you got that wagon past my roadblocks. No station wagons are supposed to leave NW Florida without my permission. We were just back in central Illinois last week and will be headed back again to the Glasford/Pekin/Peoria area shortly. If I find your wagon I may hotwire it and bring it back to Florida where it belongs to live a happy life of retirement. Until then welcome and enjoy your station wagon. PS Pekin is having a large downtown car show July 28th. Bring the wagon and leave the keys in the ignition.
Our best friends and school mates recently bought an 8 1/2 acre lake right near 136 and 155. We were there on June 27th teasing the large catfish. Headed back to central ilinois around 15th again. Probably be at the lake again for picnic, fishing, or skinny dippin! Used to square dance at MClean in some town hall in another life.
Welcome, JRich........ Just a little 'welcome present' for 'ya....... Here's a link to a auto brochure website, specifically the website page that shows the '67 Chevelle brochure. http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/chevy/67vel/67vel.html Reading it, you will find that the biggest engine available on the '67 Chevelle wagons was a 325 horse version of the 327 V8. In '67, the 396's were only available on the 'SS' models. Doesn't mean someone couldn't put one in later, though! Good to have you here. Please feel free to join in any of our forum discussions.
