I just acquired this green Galaxie, all original paint, although it's a little plain. Seems as though the contrasting-painted roofs kind of fizzled out around the late '60s, so it may or may not look right on a '69.

    Show me your painted roofs!

Green...it would depend on wether your roof has the paint break trim or not...but with that Green....could be tuff to find a color that looks right.
...dont get me wrong,,,I LUV the green (y)

maybe something that matches the interior?....even then...im not sure;)

That car is too nice to mess with. I would leave it alone. It survived 33 years like that from the factory and it now is a great example of that time period.

Looks great with the original paint. I wouldn't change a thing.

I'll vote with the others. She's a beauty as is, and I wouldn't touch her until you must. Then you could think of doing a 2 tone. If the interior is green, you could go with the darker green of the interior for the roof, or if the interior is the sandy colour, you could easily do the roof to match that.

    Awesome.
Did that used to have wood trim?
Also, by painted roof are you considering white? White goes with anything. Mine is dark blue and white and looks classy to me. The green you have with white would definitely give it a fun beachy feel.

Beautiful Catalina! Love those white roofs. Mine didn't come with wood trim. I think white or cream would go with the interior, and look real good next to the green. I found a pic in the photo section of this site of just such a '69. Green, white roof, but with wood grain. I would need to locate the little chrome trims strips for the C-pillar (or is that the D-pillar).

Not much you can do IMO, Green - unless you paint the whole wagon.

One suggestion though - if you want to 'break up' all that green, paint the lower third, below the side moldings a silver color - sort of a brushed aluminum appearance.

    I like this idea.
I hope to get my Fairmont painted sometime in the next year.
I have tried to envision what a two-tone job might look like.
I was thinking that a light and dark version of the same colour would be nice.
Anyone want to photochop a Fairmont for me? :camera:

Hmmm, I am liking the idea of a white/cream colored roof. That gets my vote....

Here is a similar wagon that shows the chrome strip I would need to find, at the base of the D pillar....

I'm not sure about two colors of green on the same car :whew:

White might look good, or a greenish cream.

I like it the way it is, but it isn't my car so you have to go with what you like. You could maybe put something white (a sheet?) on the roof, stand back and at all angles, and see what you think. Or, you could do what Andy is suggesting and photoshop it, but I find pictures a bit harder to equate to reality than seeing something in person.

What ever you do, it is certainly a good looking wagon.

But two colors of green on a wagon - I don't think it can be done and look good  No one in their right mind does that:biglaugh:

Hey, my wife picked the colors of our car so I HAVE to like them:162:
