I dont know if i can stay awake long enuff to do this but this weekend I attended my 1st Tin Can Tourist event....theres so much to tell...I got to hang with bff Saf its funny...I wanted to go hang out at one of these events for a few days and meet some new people....but ironically....I already knew ...better than 1/2 of the folks there And the gal that puts it on...her and I share the same last name !!!! but not related....so we joked all w/e about being seperated at birth I towed the trailer out with the g/f's Jeep...and made her drive the Squire !!...we got there and promptly unhitched and stuffed the Squire in front there much more to the story...but Im too tired too type (apparently...sleeping in a trailer takes some getting used to) so heres a bunch of pic's...even a few for Ian.... I wish I was awake enuff to explain them all...i'll try later this week here ya go
and lastly really sweet unit...the Burban is on a newer diesel powered chassis ...and tows this monstrous ARGOSY I'll get back later this week...and try to explain some...or Saf can in my absence. anyhoo....hada great time!!great people!!fun gig!! lookin forward to my next adventure with them
It is a Holiday House. The fellow who owns it is finishing up a '58 Edsel 2dr wagon he has converted to a sedan delivery as his tow vehicle. Oh, and he would prefer that we refer to it as "coral" . Quite rare trailers, his is done up spectacularly, and he is a perfectionist so he has huge hours invested in it.
this was a typical TCT event. Lots of very nice people, a lot of vintage vehicles as tow vehicles, and it was great to see Rev's new to him trailer. Actuallyk it is gorgeous, is so complete with original wrap around front window covers that none of us had ever seen. Usually they are long gone but this trailer was definitely cared for. As for the other pics I'll let Rev fill in as he wants - but the '54 Ford wagon is CS54's on the forum. He has two trailers, a 17' fiberglass pictured and a '59 Airstream currently under construction that he'll be towing with the '54. There was a 56 total trailer limit and they met that with a long list of hopefuls on next years waiting list. It was good to see Rev, his Lady and gosh is his wagon ever nice. She looked real good driving that in following the trailer/jeep combo. The '50 Burb is dropped on to an 82 Chev 4x4 chassis with diesel powertrain. He runs vegetable oil when he can get it so when ever he drives past we all get the urge to go to Macdonald's. The '65 burb is on its original frame, has a 350 with gear vendor O/D on a Turbo 350. Both the burbs are daily drivers, both have tens of thousands of miles on them and many of those are towing their respective trailers across America.
ya...that (pink)...CORAL... unit of Gregs is just freekin spectacular there was real pretty rigs there.....and some gave me some crazy ideas all of a sudden...a 'gutted' trailer holds a lot more appeal than it did Saf...thanx for the nice words!....and while were on the topic....the g/f...she thinks your just 'the sweetest'.... She and the brat had a great time...as did I. Cept ...I never did get that furnace to work!!!!! Im still tempted to sell it and go crazy on another....(shh...dont tell the g/f)....she's already attached to it
Thanks guys for the camping trip. Makes me want to get off my butt and out in the garage. I also like the PINK RV.
yup...that PINK one gave me some crazy thoughts....i went and looked at a gutted trailer today.....fortunately it was garbage....or Id be doing something crazy...
We are off to two more events. Roslyn, WA this weekend (they expect upwards of 75 rigs) then Sweet Home, OR the following week (about 70 rigs) so a slow trip in between, some visiting, and helping a buddy with his 1950 Spartan Manor trailer he's restoring. He currently uses his '55 Airstream Safari (aarrgghh - I should have that trailer) for camping. Life is tough.........
