Whenever I see these SRT Rams this video pops in my mind... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFH39T0Z0WI

This is why all kids should have to drive '83 Chevy Citations when they get their license like I did!! :rofl2:

Yeah - seen that one. There was a dark patch in the road right where the Ram starts to swerve - probably lost traction on the left side.

Let's see what did I drive to get my first license? Oh yeah - mom's '63 Falcon Futura sedan.

I know this is going way off topic, but I truly enjoyed one of my runs as a tow truck driver. It was a AAA call in Venus, TX...or what I like to call "the official home of the $500 down acre and a trailer homestead". The guy was off the beaten path, though. I don't mean he was off-roading. I mean he LIVED there. His trailer was at the end of a small dirt road off the end of a small gravel road off the end of a wider gravel road off the end of a poorly paved road off of a Farm-To-Market road.

Well, turns out this guy had won the lottery back in 2004 and he was living high on the hog. 2004 model TRIPLE wide trailer. Not single wide, not double wide, not even the super sized double wide. TRIPLE wide. By the way, the wheels were still on it. He had a Camaro, 2002 V6 model white with orange stripes. And then he had a yellow and black Dodge Rumble Bee pickup. Not the SRT-10. He won off a scratch-off ticket down in Boerne for $250K and well, after taxes he had enough for the land and the house and the truck and to pay off a couple credit cards. He already HAD the Camaro. But see, he was smart. He got AAA service for himself and his girlfriend and she was happy driving the Camaro, considering before she met him she was sporting a crusty gray '92-94 Tempo coupe (which, yes, was parked behind the trailer, I mean, there's good parts on that thing, y'know, you can't get rid of that just 'cause you ain't drivin' it no more, can ya?).

So anyway, I'm rambling a bit, but the guy was smart. He knew that if he ran over one of the dozens of beer bottles littering (by his hand) one of his many forms of driveway, that he might get himself a flat tire. And if he is hung over come morning, he doesn't want to have to go and change it before running out to Mansfield because, well, Mansfield is where Chubby's Pick-A-Beer is and that's where he goes. So he calls AAA who calls my former employer who radios me and gives me oldtimer's directions to this hellhole. And while he went on and on about how life is so easy when he doesn't have a house payment or a car payment and his girl loves that Camaro and did you know it has a posi and she can lay two black lines like nobody's business...

...seriously, this guy wouldn't shut up. He's like my 5-year-old daughter...

...I'm down there removing his spare and putting it in place of the 20 inch chrome wheel on the right front.

And I just got to thinking, how much happier would this guy be with the SRT/10 than the Rumble Bee? Did they make yellow ones? Cause this guy likes orange and yellow. Not red. You see, cops LOVE red cars.

So now you know the kind of garbage that my head fills itself with throughout the day and why I post like I do.

TX regulated tow truck drivers starting 1/1/2008 and I had a misdemeanor charge from 6/2001 that prevented me from getting a TDLR permit so they canned me. I re-applied later but moved before I could call and check on it and there were no tow companies down near the new house so it wasn't worth pursuing.

occupant we've got lots of those guys down lanes here in the NW Boonies of FloriduuuH. Some even won the lotto believe it or not.
My Dodge Brothers truck looks exactly like the red one except mine has the quad cab. To me it's still new. Only thing I hate are the "A" pillars which look like oversized telephone poles.
I have owned many red vehicles and have never gotten a ticket with one. Green ones, white ones, and a few other colors yes!

I have to admit, *ALL* of the vehicles I've received speeding tickets in were red (if you count maroon as red) except one. And that one that wasn't red was a yellow taxicab.

I had a maroon Dodge high topped van and the registration showed it as RED. It was the color of a plum! Not purple, maroon!

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't Futuras all two door hardtops or convertibles?
Ha. I just found a complete '63 Futura(I think) sitting in the weeds next to an abandoned house. I stopped because there's an 85 or 86 Grand Marq LS in the carport, and I thought it may have been a Colony Park wagon.
    (It wasn't.)

Futura's came out first for the '61 model year, and only in a 2-door coupe. Had the bucket seats and console. They can be identified by the 3 hash marks on the quarter panel:
'62's were pretty much the same, just a different side chrome treatment:
For '63 they expanded the 'Futura' same to make it a whole trim line, adding a 4-door sedan and convertible. Sedan got a bench seat, though. 'Futuras' identified by the big side spear:
In '63, for the wagons, you had the 'plain' wagon or the Squire. there was no 'Futura' wagon (without wood)

It still amazes me how many Falcons I've been seeing at the cruise-in's. I have a feeling since Mustangs have gone up in price that the Falcon/Mavericks are getting snatched up now.

I've got a friend in Belton that has a 65 Falcon wagon in a field that has been on the "I'm going to restore" list for 10 years now. He needs to hurry before it sinks into the earth!

Yup. I've been noticing a lot of them too. Might end up on my short list - a '65 4-door with a 289 of course.

Got the truck back from the body shop after work last night. They ended up totally re-painting the hood, and it looks A TON better than it did! There was a lot of trash in the finish the first time, and it's all gone. Good deal.

Spent a few hours messing with things last night. First off, when the put the hood back on, it was sitting too far back on the passenger side...there was almost no gap between the hood and the door....oh-oh...I went to Maaco...ha. Loosened the bolts and aligned the hood, looks fine now.

Next I tackled the hissing issue. When you pull the air filter box off, this is what you see:

And found out there is supposed to be a gasket there. $2 at O'Reilly:

    And now we have this:

I put the air box back on and fired the truck up, and the sould of the hiss was still there, but much quieter. I'd read online that over time the air box, which is plastic, can warp, and some people use two gaskets to get a good seal. I'd bought two on the off-chance mine was warper, installed the 2nd gasket on top of the first, put the aitbox back on, and the engine is quiet now! Woo-Hoo, $4 fix! Took it for a drive, and sometimes you just barely hear a hiss, but it's tons better, and that's why we have radios in cars, right? I think a little hiss is just going to part of the "Dodge Experience". ; )

Next I took the new fog lights out of their boxes, and got to work removing the old lights from the inside of the bumper. The bolts are not hard to get at, but you can't SEE them, they tuck up under the bumper edge, so you have to go by feel.

Guess which is the old one?

Got the new fog lights installed, and they look fantastic and are very bright, but they made my headlights really stand out as being yellowed. Could not have that. Got out the polishing compound and spent a half hour rubbing on the headlights.

Headlights before (and old faded bumper cover too...yuck)

    And headlights after polishing:

Truck is looking TONS better. I'm planning to paint the door mirror housings, door handles, and wiper arms this weekend, and I have some silver touch-up paint on order from Maik Haik Dodge, but other than that, the outside is DONE! Woo-Hoo!
