I've used a couple of tire size calculators, and normally I'd run a 235 75 R15 on my wagon, but, they say that the 255/70R15 is roughly the same diameter, but, 3/4" wider. Would this fit though? It's mostly the front I'm worried about, we had a set of 245 70's on the back of our '86 Olds Custom Cruiser in the winter of 07 I believe. So I'm pretty sure 255/70R15's will fit. For the record, I know they are 10" wide tires, they're going on some 8" wide wheels, not sure which ones yet, got three I'm looking at. And I know these are REALLY fat tires, but that's what I want, so, do they fit?

225/75 15 is NOT a stock tire size on a B body 9C1. Depending on year and option, stock for a 9C1 was either 235/70 or 225/ 70 15. I haven't used this brand since the last century, but 4 tires for under $400 sounds like a good deal to me. I stand corrected. As it turns out my summer tires are 225/75/15 and my winter tires are 225/70/15. I plan to get some 235's the next time around.
Rear, no problem, front end...depends on your suspention hight, mite get a rub when low speed tite cornering. Edit... I'm refering to stock suspention....Stickman could put a tractor tire on waogon, and it would handle like a train on tracks.
Thanks for the info, found the 255/60's mentioned here for $105.56 a piece. These are either going on my '86 or '89, depending on which I restore. I'm keeping the '86 either way, but, the '89 may become a second car. Though I'm leaning t'wards keeping the '86, 'cause it would take about 4-6 wagons to fix both of them Anyway, I like the look of the 255/60R15's seen in the other thread on the Caprice, I really like the beauty ring setup with those wheels. 255 60s will be fine front and rear with stock suspension, the fronts will rub a bit on the sway bar at full lock, but not bad. 255 70s you originally asked about will work on the back, but the front will rub a fair amount on the sway bar and the rear mount of the front lower control arm brackets. Again, will work, but be careful at full lock, it will tear up the inner edge of the sidewall. The rim choice looks good too. Mike

I like the look of the 245/60, I'll go with a set of Cobra GT's and flip them backwards, my brother has a set of Cobra GT's on his '92 Camaro RS, 215 65 I think, they have a cobra on the back, looks better than the white lettering. Anyway, on a side note, my shoulder feels like it's going to fall off, I fired about fourty rounds through two single barrel trap 12 gauge shotguns yesterday, so, I'm not typing much today. I'm considering trading my twelve gauge Savage and about 59 shells for a Rossi 971 .357 magnum I fired yesterday. The magnum does not murder my shoulder when I get bored and murder empty containers and old car tires. Though, I will miss my twelve gauge, my shoulder will not.

Thanks for the input, I really like the look of those tires, they fit the width of the wheels really well. I landed a job Monday, the 2nd of April, it's a temporary position as a janitor at a local elementary school, pay isn't great, $8.09/hr, 8hrs a day, 5 days a week, about 4-8 weeks, might run until school closes. I might be able to get another job at the same school helping prepare it over the summer for the next school year, they only have older women working there and it's really hard on them moving all the furniture. Anyway, that's why I haven't replied, I've been busy. I shadowed the woman I'm filling in for while she's on leave last night, so I know what I need to do while I'm there.
I agree that if yoy are staying with a 15 a 255/60 or 50 is a good size. But good large 15 inch tires are getting harder to find. You can fit much wider tires if you wish. I ran 275/40-18's on my car and I ran it quite low at one point. The front rubbed very slightly at full lock on the swaybar. A better bs would have helped that. But wheels in 5x5 bolt pattern are hard to find in styles other than truck types. On the rear you are pretty much limited but your wallet. How much can you afford to spend on wheels and tires. I am pretty sure with the propper back spacing I could have fit a 11 inch wide wheel and maybe a 335 series tire. But once you go over a 9 wide wheel and a 275/285 tire prices go way up.
