I just booked my flight home, I leave here March 12th at 5:45pm and arrive in Erie, PA 29hours 30 minutes later at 11:05am March 13th.

I am so relieved, but so depressed. My kids have finally realized that daddy is not going to be with them again. My son, who is 4 said, "daddy, you promised you would not leave me again", It broke my heart. This will be the 2nd year in a row that I will be without them for Mothers and Fathers Day, My wife (June 13) and sons(June14) Birthdays and possibly 4th of July.

But it has to be done, sacrifices have to be made and I was man enough to make the mistake to come here, I am man enough to suffer again while I make it right.

:badwords::cussing: Tell me about the jacking of prices. 3 days ago, the ticket was $803, this morning it was $867, at 1pm, midnight back in EST, it hit $900.69. :bsod: Give me a stinking break, a $97 price increase in 3 days? Its nothing but legal price gouging and armed robbery. The airlines hate to fly with empty seats, well stop handing us customers a tube of KY Lube with the price of the tickets. Instead of jacking the price up as time gets closer, lower the price, people would be more tempted to fly if the price was reasonable. Or how about a set price per seat? Nah, no money to be made from people like me who have to wait until I can come up with the money. Yes Delta, I have my pants around my ankles, you can insert the ticket now!

I'm happy for you. The price of plane tickets are following gas prices. We've gone up 28 cents in four days. Our cheap gas is now $4.15 per gallon today. Jet fuel is pretty much the same.

Flying has got pretty ridiculous lately. Rather than United or Southwest Airlines, it's more like Walmart or the 99 cent store as far as accomidating customers - but still at expensive prices. Wife flew back from SoCal last Friday. Of course got the middle seat - they wanted to charge her $35 extra for a window seat, or an aisle seat with 'extra room' (sticking your legs out in the aisle is 'extra room'?). I can understand ticket prices fluctuating with fuel prices being so volatile, but they should have a better way of managing it...... Oh and her flight? I had to drive 120 miles up to Portland to get her. I left Springfield over an hour before she even took off......

The airlines have gone from comfortable, inexpensive and enjoyable to the direct opposite. I hate flying anymore and I hate the airlines flipping the bird at customers. Customer service is a thing of the past. It disgusts me the direction this country is headed. I could write a book on the subject so I'd better stop now.

Blackfoot, are you using a saved search through a site like Travelocity or are you going directly to the airline site(S)?

If you keep looking for a better price on the same flight at the airline site, it's my understanding that the best price tends to be the one you get on your first search. There are many of us who believe that the airline sites are using your browser search/cookie history to determine how to price your flight as the date gets closer and you continue to search for the same travel arrangements.

Sometimes you can get a better deal by actually talking to a live person...you never know which way it will go.

I searched several sites, but I dump history and cookies every day. I also called 3 travel agents and they were $50-$130 higher then the highest site i found online. I used Expedia to come here, but ended up buyng through Orbitz, they beat everyone else from $5-87.

I hate flying in general. I have vertigo and I can feel every inch between my feet and the ground. I have flown before. Back in 96. Left from Tulsa to SLC with a change over in Denver. We had to wait for the runway to clear before landing and for far too long I could see the ground out one side of the plane and the sky out the other. No thank you! I fly again when some one else pays and I can be sedated for the whole flight. Its bad enough to not be able to smoke for that long and be anxious, nervous and uneasy.

Tracking and adjusting price. I would be surprised if it wasn't true.

I love flying, I find it greatly relaxing. The take offs are a riot, especially in the small planes, the G forces are a hoot! I can't sleep in a plane or anything moving tho, I might be able to sneak a short nap, but if I sleep too long, I get a sick feeling and break out in a cold sweat. i also need some kind of moving air blowing on me in anything that moves. Winter time, the window is cracked, even behind the wheel, I will get motion sickness without moving air.

As for not smoking, the flight from China to LA is gonna suck, its 13 hours, but I still have my Nicorette mini Lozenge that helped when I flew over here. I have the 5mg kind and they give me one hell of a nicotine buzz. The wine also helps with the flight. I just ask really nicely and the girls usually give me an extra bottle. I hope LAX has a smoking area, because my next stop in Detroit doesn't, not one that I have found yet anyway and my lay overs are 3 hours at each one. If I can't find a place for a smoke at all 3 stops, I am gonna be a grumpy b***h, its 29 hours 30 minutes and thats not cool!

When I was last in LAX,about a year and a half ago, they had a smoking lounge with a bar in the south terminal, should still be there. Smoking inside with a beer was goooood. In Denver they have a smoking bar too in the corner of the central terminal, was there just a couple months ago. It's crowded sometimes but is all smoker friendly.

If I ever find myself having to fly again I will totally have to have some of those nicorette things. I will probably use too many but I hate flying. Truth is it isn't completely the heights. I don't like being in machines that are controlled by some one else and especially some one I don't know. I have faith in other people issues...
