Since I was downtown today at lunch paying my water bill I pulled into the free parking garage off Main st. on a whim. Amazingly the pretty black '95 Roady wagon I spotted going to dinner with the family back on Jan 20th is still there. It has not moved, is now covered in dust, and the note I put under the wiper about visiting our forum and contacting me if they wanted to sell the car is still there.

This is a free public lot....I guess it's possible someone could be storing the car there, but the garage is not locked or patrolled and I hate to think of this car getting vandalized one night. The tags in the window are current. Wonder what gives. I'd LOVE to have this car for my father. With a bath and some detailing it'd be gorgeous.

    Wonder what gives??????

    Hmmmm......

    Abandoned vehicle?
    Stolen?

Might be worthwhile to do a little detective work. Check with the proprietors of the local businesses who would use the parking structure - see if anyone knows who owns it. If you don't get any luck there, tell a local cop there might be an abandoned vehicle there. See what happens.........

It beats me. This is just a free open parking garage off main downtown. Mostly used by people that work on Main or at the Water dept during the day, and by people eating dinner or going to a club downtown at night. There is no gate or patrol. It's just a wide-open parking garage. Not near the airport of any kind of military base. Just little downtown Round Rock.

Weird. It's really close to my house. Will be checking in on the car from time to time. If it gets a police red-tag as abandoned maybe I can find out more about it. It really is a nice one. Needs the trim around the wood fixed and the headliner replaced. Steering wheel needs some SEM and it has an aftermarket CD player in it. And it needs a bath badly. Body is very straight, paint would come back with a polish, and seats are dry but not torn up.

    We'll see!

Black woodys seem to be less common than black wb4's, and it would look good with the peeling trim polished. Is there any way to have the plate # looked up by a local police officer or DMW? It would look good next to the white one parked in your drive way.:thumbs2: Does Car Fax give you current owner info? that might be worth a one time fee. Remember Mike, you need to get some of those nice Texas cars to us up here in the north now that you have connections up here.

Send all those poor rust-free wagons to that cold and salt....that's just mean man! :naughty:

I'm going to watch this car. If it IS abonded and gets red-tagged, it'll go to the local county auction and I might be able to get it for a song....but if I did it'd go to my Dad's driveway, not mine. Dad likes my wagon a lot and would love this one, and if I bring another wagon home my wife will leave me! :banghead3:

My rust-free California wagon NEVER is driven in the cold and salt. I know exactly how hard it is to remove rust once it gets started, so my Squire is garaged until the weather is nice once again.

As long as everyone else promises the same thing I have no issues looking for wagons here for northern owners. :tiphat:

It's a dandy! That'd be wonderful if you could get your hands on it!

These darn northern winters have me going through Withdrawals. I really miss driving my Colony Park!

What 200OZ said. Run the plate and call the owner. If you sit and wait...that car may disappear some day. Could be a lot of reasons it's sitting there....owner could have died and no one knows where the car is, could be stolen......run that plate.

How do you run a plate? Never done that before.
