I know right Mike!? It was in primer at the time, but damn it was in too good of shape to see her go down like that.
I know what you mean. Maybe it's because I found this forum first and was spoiled, but I had joined some other ones for my non-wagon vehicles and found the people to just be rude and as though they didn't want you there. Whatever happened to the more the merrier?
never a derby car! in late ‘70s. straycat was unstoppable in the Vega Wagon and in 1980, NASCAR outlawed the car.
At least you didn't drive it in the demolition derbys! However, most Vegas were only suitable for demo derbys anyway. NASCAR Should have outlawed them on the street!
First. I agree! I joined a few forums before mostly minitruck ones and found the people to be total jerks. If you haven't spent upwards of 70K building a truck or had someone from West Coast customs do the work then you were not cool enough. This forum however made me feel welcome from my very first post. I soon found just pure enthusiasm, not attitudes, like a breath of fresh air. The "family" feel has just gotten stronger and better every day since. Thank you all for becoming my second family. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima
...pretty much...ditto... hold it....youve only got 3 legs???....that changes everything............... ....that was you peekin in my window???......perv....... ...Like i said on the 'where do you graze?'.....i like it HERE...just HERE !! and thats for all the above mentioned
one of the nice things about this forum is...post count!!! nobody gives a crap about post count!!! if you just joined and you have something to say..say it and we listen!
I agree. That right there is a big plus. Lots of car forums judge your automotive intellect by the amount of posts you have. You could be ASE certified for 20 years, but if you only have 8 posts, you don't know Jack! Speaking of that, I am almost at a hundred. What will I win?
On the minitruck Forum that shall not be named, I was once told to "shut the f*ck up because I was too old and stupid to understand" I have been building minitrucks since before they were born but I'm stupid?? That was it for me. I am by no means a know it all and I don't have the experience some of you guys, but at 44 years old I have some car time under my belt. In this forum none of that stuff matters. Whether it's your first car ever or you're a 65 year vet, you never feel like you're being talked down to, your opinion is just as valid as the next member. I don't think you guys realize how rare that really is.
Good points, dewsat. You are right...it IS rare. Again, I think it has to do with the love of wagons as a common thread. An understanding of the times that wagons thrived. I believe it takes a certain kind of person to know and respect those times, the people and the wagons. I also believe that there is a lot of appreciation and respect here for Stef (Wagonmaster) for starting this forum and running it without steering it with crude rules. We like wagons here, appreciate the fact that Stef had the foresight to present us with this forum, appreciate the life and times that wagons originated and are happy to welcome all-comers to the appreciation and discussions of all wagons. I think there is a certain intellect involved as well. An empirical maturity, if you will, of wagon people. We recognize our own feelings about the life and times of the wagon and have great empathy for others that have those same feelings. These things have melded us into a friendly family and those that do not share these feelings quickly drift away to other forums to boast and argue.
Very well put Fox!! I think you're absolutely right there is something about a person who can appreciate the longroof that gives them an overall appreciation for vehicles in general, and not just the vehicles but just plain car people. When I am at car shows inevitably the guy who stops to ask me a few dozen questions about my car is not there to pick apart someones dream or criticize their hard work, they are just car guys who love to look and talk. Wagon lovers are just good people.
Well put gentlemen, and the rest of you! I could go on for hours about this subject. Yet it would only count as one post. So if this is a game, I should split it up into dozens of posts. Well, since it is not, truthfully I never even paid much attention to post counts cause it's way over there on the left. I only read what's in front of my face. Could be this temporary one eye thing but I really don't care how many times anyone posts. I just like to read the posts. I've learned a little about station wagons since joining. but I've learned way more about people. Especially station wagon owner people. As far as Stef, the administrator, I'd like to thank him everyday for creating this forum. One thing I notice about Stef, he hasn't got many silly rules and has let a few members bend those he does have. We basically police ourselves and have fun. It's not even always about station wagons. But I feel real station wagon lovers have always had a special bond. After all, no one else loves or understands us! Just since I've joined the forum I've seen many just stop in to sell a wagon or briefly discuss one, and they've been hooked. More people are learning that longroofs are fun and great investments in many ways.
