So would I. Caddy is hooked to a race car trailer, but thats all I have. Car is
my late uncle Wilbur Hawthorne's likely this pic is Williams Grove in Pa.They did
travel the country though and did run at Ascot. Lot of success with Bobby Adamson driving including back to back National Open wins at the 'Grove'.Pic
is mid 60's vintage when wagons were 'state of the art' race car haulers...

Funny you should mention the STP sticker. Racing then was funded through his trucking business but it was the race purses that paid the bills. Far from todays
corporate mentality of rolling billboards. Couldn't even dream of fielding a racer off of purses now...

My guess is that the Cadi is a combo. A hearse/ambulance combination that was a really popular option, especially in less populated areas.

My guess would be(knowing how these guys operated then) That said hearse/ambulance showed up at a local garage for a yearly tune-up and got a
hitch, speedo cable disconnected, and a load of tools, spares, etc, drove halfway across the country and back, then delivered back to the funeral parlor, running like a top the next week and nobody was the wiser...:1st:

Of course, you never know. I've been buying vintage speed parts from a mortuary in Ill. as of late...:)

Those old Cadis are something really special, IMO. I would love to have one, but who wouldn't.

I know we are supposed to be looking for station wagons in these photos. But it is amazing how many VW beetles and VW vans there are too!

Story goes that in October, 1960, 1500 people in Flora, Illinois got a new (white, duh...) Ford to drive for a week. Most got new 1961's, but a few got 1960 T-Birds, as the all new '61 T-Bird got a late start.

As far as I remember there couldn't have been many more people who drove in Flora, Illinois back then. That's in southern Illinois, near Sessor, original home of Cars and Parts magazine.
