Does the sign on the front make this a 'Car'thedral?

On the architect's business card it says,
"I design churches and garages......."

 

That is a beautiful Studebaker garage. Obviously they didn't pray hard enough to stay in business!

 

Any idea what city and when this picture was taken? I have some thoughts about the building, but would need more information before mentioning them. thanks Junk..

 

No idea where the building is from. Grabbed it from another forum...

 

I'm thinking this could be West Coast, possibly Ascot Raceway in Gardena, CA. Racer has 'Hawthorne Spee(d?) on the side. Hawthorne is a neighboring community to Gardena. Racer has a 'STP' sticker on it, which had a lot more support on the west coast. Racer is exactly the type that racedfrequently at Ascot. I've been to Ascot, and the surroundings in the photo wouldn't rule it out from being Ascot, although I can't confirm it. Ascot no longer exists, BTW....

 

So where's the wagon in this one?

 

I was kind of thinking about that hearse as well. I expect to see an ambulance standing by at a race track, but a hearse? That might make you think twice about even entering the race.
