Hello all..... I've decided I'm in over my head on trying to get the 440 to turn over. I took the radiator out to get acces to the crank nut, and I was able to rock it back & forth about 8". Got a lot of advice on this forum - thanks! My beloved '67 Fury III is now on eBay, if anyone wants to see more photos of it.
The NEXT car I bring home will be a wagon, but I won't buy it unless I can DRIVE it home!
    Thanks again for help!

Hey, Fury. We're in the same town. I'm over south of Main off Bob Straub.
What are your parameters on a wagon? I'll help you look.....

Guy on Classic Olds got about as far as you did.
Pulled the motor, took off the heads, and found a cracked cylinder!!
So far, he's been offered 2 free blocks!
440 Mopars are everywhere - fix it, don't get discouraged and sell it!
Make some money for your efforts - don't loose on it!

Man, I'm moving to Chicago if 440s are everywhere. It's easy to get in over your head if you're not too mechanically inclined. Chances are that if the motor is that stuck then you would need rings at the very least and I'd be very tempted to look at the bearings. A motor swap isn't a bad plan if you can find a descent runner and maybe someone to help out. A 383 will also work with minor exhaust tweaking and a small block of any sort with a mated 727 is also a really convenient swap. Really good interchange on these cars. That is if you decide not to throw in the towel.

Polara Pat stop right there. Don't move to Chitcago! Move to Florida. 440's are climbing out of the woodwork...at least out of the Palm trees.
Old people, like me, drove those old 440 Dodge powered motorhomes down here and parked them in the sand to rot away. Many are low milage engines. Shucks, you can live in it while you do your engine swap then head back north if you like!
And 67fury, car guys never give up. ------(At least we don't admit it)----Find a smaller engine from a Chrysler product and slip it in that wagon if it is as nice as you say.:taz:

    Hi Marshall,
I thought I saw a Spfd address earlier! I don't know my way around this site very well, so I could never find it again. '67 or '68 is about my cut-off point. I'd love a wagon with fins, but they are too spendy. Tho I know where there's TWO 1960 Plymouth Furys for $1,000 ea., but too much work. Mostly yard art I guess.
    Thanks,
    TB

I hate to throw in the towel too. But, in my defense, there really isn't a good place to work on it. It's under an open carport right now, that's 20' long. The wagon is 18' long. That's 12" over my head to keep out the rain & snow! It would be a great wintertime project - in the right conditions....
    Thanks,
    TB

 I don't know if we ever break even. But the important thing is to learn a little and have fun doing it. Never give up. Just regroup and come back fighting..........
:jumping:Buy the best vehicle you can afford. You will be way ahead in the long run. Rust is expensive. (y)

Hey TB, I have a huge weakness for fins too! Hope you are still coming to the Albany Speed and Sport show this weekend. Be great if you and Marshall and I could meet up. Look for me at the "Rat Hole Customs" booth.:yup:

Nope, but he sent me a note citing medical reasons (not life threatening). There will be other shows TB! No worries. But I am disappointed somewhat.

However, another new member did drop by. Didn't tell me his handle here but said he doesn't yet have a wagon and is looking for his holy grail: 1959 Buick Estate!
I googled a few images and agree those things are simply BEAUTIFUL! Fins galore and such sweet lines.
But, have to be rare as I have never seen one in all my 53 years.
