Thats true Mike and we get road blocks and checkpoints nearly every weekend here in Utah. I remember my Dad used to drive his 72 Caddy Fleetwood around with a glass of whiskey on the rocks chilling in his cup holder...it sounds crazy now. :drink:

Can't remember the last time we went out to a party for New Years. Usually we just stay in, maybe watch a movie. Last time we did anything was a thing they have down in Fullerton, CA called 'First Night' - just people walking around on the downtown business streets. Restaurants have booths up to sample their food; There's a stage for local entertainment. It has a 'family friendly' atmosphere - no drinking allowed.

We're having my dad's birthday party tomorrow. Then I got invited for drinks at a friends. After that, I may be off to Ho-Chunk Casino, where they're supposed to be having a big to-do.

I used to watch the ball drop on Tv. But since im in California, im sum 3 hours behind the rest of the country it really dosent have any meaning. Tommorow night I wont be doing alot. IFC has a 3 stooges marathon , ill be at home watching that.

My new Years resolution for next year is to try to quit smoking. Im down to half a carton of Marlboros , once im out of smokes im finished. I hope. Ive tried to quit lots of other times but never could.

We usually get dressed up and go to the local Community Center for dinner/dance and balloon drop. It's fun to get dressed up and party with our friends and neighbours.
We also usually take in both levees here in town. The first is the Mayors levee abit formal, runs from 11-1:00. Then across the street is the levee at the Legion 1:00 to whenever....mmm Moose Milk, and finger foods all afternoon. Then the music(DJ or a band) shows up and there's more dancing into the evening.
They now plan the two levees to follow each other because when they where at the same time more folks you go to the Legion and not the Mayors Levee. But now they follow each other and they're across the street from each other so you don't really need your car. I actually helped carry left over food across the street to the Legion following the Mayors Leeve...aahhh small towns :thumbs2: love it!

However it's my turn to work this year so me will likely watch the World Junior Hochey Game, Canada vs U.S.A., have some num nums then hit the hey.

However you bring in the New year I hope you are enjoying yourself doing what makes you happy...

We get out a couple of extension cords and some friends bring their Toast-O-Lators over and we have Toast-O-Lator races to toast in the new year. Then just before midnight, we drag an air hose out into the front yard and blow a Nathan P5 locomotive horn at the stroke of midnight.

Yeah, it may be unconventional but so is owning an old station wagon.

For those folks who want to know about a Toast-O-Lator:

I tried everything and couldn't quit either, F27. It finally got me just recently. I was always a smoker and resented people telling me that I shouldn't. With that said...take it from another nicotine hooked loser...if you can, get rid of those things. Forever.
