This REALLY happened to us tonite!

Both my honey and I are still a bit "shocked" you could say. There has been a rumor for a couple years in our city of a complete stranger in grocery stores at X-Mas time that pops out of nowhere and pays the bill for peoples food flat out! We met him tonite! His name is Jason!

We went shopping for food and were at the check out isle unloading. Out of nowhere a well dressed clean shaved man says to me.... "Well you sure have a load for Chritmas dinner, I would like to pay for it, for the both of you, for Christmas" .

Me, being me I answered "whats the catch and lauphed". He said "there is no catch, I just want to pay for your food for christmas" , he then looked at the girl at the cashier and said "I'll pay for this". I now became a bit of a smart @@z and repeated, "whats the catch, you then gona follow and stock us or something?".... He replied with a smile and a soft chuckle and said " no, no, no, I do this alot every year", and out poped his VISA card.

Very friendly and all he wanted to know was what were our plans, lived here long, any family coming, etc, just random inocent questions, no where do you live, what do you do, etc.

All we could get out of him was his first name "Jason", he and his wife have 2 small children and he has lived here all his life. I have no idea where and or what he does for a living, or where he lives.

NO BS, $368.00 was our bill and me thinking...."OK this will scare him off", but NO, he paid it on his VISA!! All he said after that was, you have to do some thing the same to some one.
I'm in total:eek3: now and my honey looks the same.
I didn't let him leave, there were stuffed animals being sold for cancer and I insisted I buy 2 for his kids, and a bunch of candy. It was wierd, he almost thanked us more for the dolls for his kids! As we were leaving the front doors I looked towards the derection he went and low and behold he was doing the same thing to another couple a few tills down!

Going back to the car was wierd, we were both silent and all that could come out of my big moth was "did this really happen????"

On we went and I stopped at the gas station by our house. While stading in line Jasons words kept poping in my head ....." you have to do some thing the same to some one". The girl infront of me, I paid her gas + smokes and other junk food stuff. When I paid her bill and well I guess "I" know now what I must have looked like as it blew her mind also! I told her and the kids at the gas station what just happened to us ( I know all the kids) I also shot all of them $20 each. Got me into a mind set I can't describe.... I dished out $240 on my way home and I kinda still feel guilty I didn't balance the score.

" you have to do some thing the same to someone".

I learned alot tonite you could say, The OMG kindness of strangers and how good it felt to return the gift to others:yup:

This really happened every one, for real!

    Jason, who ever you are,

[IMG] I've heard this happening other places over the years. What you did for others got the same responses. Wonder how many of them followed thru? Even if only one did the chain went on!
Reminds me of that old TV show THE MILLIONAIRE.
Merry Christmas Tedy, you deserve a break.

Merry Christmas Jason, where ever you are!

It's funny that you have a hard time believing that this stranger, out of the blue, offered to help with your grocery bill. It seems to me that you yourself have helped a number of folks without being asked, you just did it, out of the blue. Now you know how the folks you have helped feel. Glad to hear you've already paid it forward. Those kids must have been shocked? It is a little strange isn't it?

Good on ya, Tedy. It's what people and Christmas should be all about. In your case, it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
Merry Christmas to Jason and to you Tedy.

    Hope for humanity

That is a most beautiful and wonderful thing. I am truly proud of the kindness that can come so easily and naturally, and proud of those that take advantage and utilize that amazing gift known as kindness. Z and I made a promise years ago that when we got a car of our own we would give people rides since so many had given us rides when we didn't have a car. There are plenty of people here that know that if they see my car and they need a ride they need only flag me down. Small things can mean so much to people in ways that may not be completely understood. A few weeks ago while at a stop sign near the homeless shelter this guy walked up to my window and asked for a cigarette. I gave him the rest of my pack. I was afraid that Z would be upset since we have a tight budget but she wasn't. You see. Zoe was homeless for a couple of years and it was things like that that made it easier for her to survive. Even something like smokes can make some one's day better. So to those that give freely without thought of getting anything in return, I say thank you. You keep hope in humanity alive...

Tedy, Jason, and those of the like, you're infectious. I just got back from the store. I was buying just one simple box of mac and cheese. The guy that was in front of me I had let go ahead of me. While he was being rang up he turned and grabbed the box and said that he would pay for it too. I had your same reaction... I made sure to shake his hand before I left and I thanked him.
