repaired some rotten vacuum lines, and replaced the thermostat. only because the previous owner did not know to take the film off of the old gasket and it started leaking. also replaced the heater control valve which i will have to take back because it is leaking.

Tweaked the rebuilt Q-Jet on my Bonneville to eliminate an off-idle stumble.
Drove it to run errands; junk yard, pick-up new carpet, pick up SEM paint for my floor console.
I'm getting everything ready for the console/floor shifter installation.

Stored my wagon for the season yesterday. Pulled the PCM so I can tweak it over the winter. I miss it already.:(

I just got some winter tires for mine.
No storage here. I plan to be driving mine out to the cottage on Lake of the Woods this winter. Even bought some tire chains.

I would love it if I could bring myself to make my wagon a DD. I just can't do it. I'm surprised that you can do it, Andy. Just as I do....you have a lot of time and money in your car, too.

I don't know if we got the final low down on the engine. Didn't you have a clearance problem with the crankshaft or something? And did the engine remain yellow? I remember Norm saying it was a freaking hot rod!

Good point! I don't think he changed the color. Sounds awful mean though and it does the whole speedo like mine did with the 302 V8.

Got mine to pass emissions test at 200K!!! It failed on first test with High NOx. So I did Sea Foam intake treatment, cleaned carb, checked basic tuneup items, checked vacuum lines, and made other adjustments and it passed! :)
Seems the distributor holddown was loose since I bought it last year! Timing was off by many degrees yet the Y code Olds engine started on first turn everytime once it was warm.

    Yellow? No, not anymore. :)

Yes there was some interference with the rod and the camshaft if I advanced it 4 degrees. I went with 2 degrees and left it at that. Runs great!

Had the leaking radiator in the new wagon recored to ensure I didn't get a cheap aftermarket replacement, as has happened to me before. Paid a pretty penny too, but I wanted quality. Just got around to putting it in today a week after I picked it up, to find it doesn't fit.:badwords: It doesn't fit in the mounts anymore, about 1/4 in. too long on each end. Already got it out again and ready to take back on Mon. This kills my enthusiasm for today, and it is the perfect car repair day- warm, sunny, wife out of town. I'm going to try to regroup and do some more detailing, or get my snows mounted for Big Bird(the other Caprice).

Well I got a lesson in compatiblity. New Mustang/Capri (1987) windshield wiper/washer switches with intermittent wiper systems don't like Pre-1984 Intermittent systems on Fox cars. I had to go back to my original switch. What happens at first (a couple months ago) is that it keeps spraying for a couple cycles after you shut it off, finally (last week) it ran the washer fluid dry, and kept running after turning it off. I shut the car down, turned to start it up and the wipers kept running.

Changed the switch and all it well again, intermittent functions, spray functions, speed functions, AND it even shuts off properly. Weird.

Not sure- I told him what application it was for, all I can think of is the replacement core wasn't inserted far enough into the tanks when reassembled.
