Where have you been all my life? How is it that I can be an avid station wagon fan as well as a web forum addict and I never knew about this place. Well I'm here now and happy to have found you. About me: Im a mild mannered computer geek by day and a crazed car fanatic by night. Some of my exploits with cars can be seen at my website www.misfittoysracing.com About my wagons: My daily drive is a 2001 BWM 325iT wagon. Love that thing. I also recently purchased my next project, a 1968 Toyota Crown station wagon, more on that in a minute. In the past I've also had a Volvo 240 wagon, VW Squareback wagons and a 93 Chevy Caprice wagon. So a bit more about that toyota and why you may hear more from some of my friends soon. Each year I take part in a bit of craziness called the Big Apple to Big Easy rally (www.baberally.com). It is a 5 day roadtrip from NY to New Orleans driving cars which were purchased for $500. The rules are a bit loose so while you can only spend $500 on the purchase there is no real limit on the money put into fixing her for the rally. Each year an informal spec class is established, one year it was "american iron" for pre 1980 American cars with V8s or straight 6 engines. Last year it was spec Tempo, for Ford Tempos only. This year the spec class is station wagons! YEA!! So the toyota was procured to be my beast of burden this year and after the rally I'm going to fix her up as a fun cruiser. Welcome! I am new to this site also, love your BMW wagon, they are great looking, I would love to have one some day. Did they ever do a diesel in those? That would be a great commuter car for me if they did!
I dont think they ever did a diesel in them (in the US) in this generation (E46) I believe the latest generation does offer them though.

at one point or another, most of them. But even if you aren't a mechanic if you get the car to the stop point for the night someone on another team will usually fix it for you. Last year I rebuilt an axle on a VW bus, replaced a headgasket on a plymouth valiant, rewired a pontiac van, and replaced the distributor in my own car, just to name a few examples

Crown, not Corona, much larger, has the 2M 6 cylinder in it. When I first saw the ad I thought they mistyped Corona, I had never seen a Crown before
That '68 Toyota Crown wagon has to be super-rare, as I don't think they sold very many of them here when new. I wonder what it cost new? Your BMW wagon looks sharp. I've been thinking someday it would be nice to purchase a 5-series wagon, the last edition that was pre-Bangle. That generation of 5-series was attractive and is getting old enough to be more affordable.
True, I've seen very few Crowns at all, let alone wagons. And of the wagons finding one with a manual transmission seems to be the rarest of the bunch. Sadly as we are all aware, with rarity comes lack of parts availability. Its pretty odd on this car, I can find engine internals but not a valve cover gasket. Although the internals were shared with the rest of the M series motors through the late 90s so that is probably why. The BMWs are quite a value, especially wagons which just dont appeal to as broad of an audience. There seems to be some good deals on the 5 series out there these days.
My bad, just looked like a Corona at first glance. The Crown is a much larger car, and Corona's have the little louver vents all over them. One of my buddies used to have a Cressida wagon 79' or 80' it had that six as well, good engine, too much power for teenaged idiots like us.
