When my sister and I were in NH a couple of weeks ago we happen to notice PP on this speedy little car as it past us. We both cracked up, it was hilarious and perfect at the same time.
Our mom is British and to her "sod" is an extremely BAD word to say. I have actually heard my mom use the "F" word but never the "S" word. If we use this word we get a smack up the back of the head, even to this day and I'm...well old enough to not be smacked by my mom!
Back to the speedy little car, the plate read..."SOD OFF". :rofl2:
Perfect! So yesterday I went the Motor Vehicles to order the plate. However the clerk is having trouble, her system won't take it. After several trys another clerk comes over to offer some help. She sees what I want and says I can't have that on a plate. She says I can't have it because...IT'S A GUN! WHAT??? I tried to explain that sod is a piece of truff, dirt, grass...sod! She says, rifle, barrow cut to be made shorter is SOD OFF! I countered with no "SAWDOFF" would be a shortened barrowed rifle. She says not these days with all the acronyms...she won I had to pick another PP. :(
    So I went with..."O SOD"... mom's also a gardener so it's a twofer.

I'm going to get smacked Christmas morning...:slap:

There's an mild custon 1958 Edsel Ranger that buzzes around here and frequents the car shows. Tinted windows , rims and a sunroof and all. The cars got a personalized California plate " 58 EDDY " , god that car is sweet. And I'm a purist , I tend to like the classics just as they rolled off the dealership.

I am not to far from San Francisco and I recall seeing this car with a guy driving with the plates saying "GD HEAD" ... so I naturally inclined to believe, being so close to a "alternative lifestyle" area, that this flaming guy is proudly professing his gay talents... good head!

Welp we soon stop side-by-side at a stoplight, I look over and see he is wearing a tye-died Grateful Dead tee-shirt .... could he actually be a gay Grateful Dead head?

After that I sorta gave up on what people's personalized plates were supposed to mean.

I like them, some of them are really clever. And some you just can't figure out.

If you could look closely at our 1955 Chevy wagon front Illinois tag you would see it reads "R TOY 55" Yes, it is licensed and rear tagged Florida with an original 1955 Florida tag. ;) I've written all this before. Our other 55 Chevy had "USA 1955". Our 1957 Chevy had "SHARP 57". Our big powerful Ford Escort 2 door had "1 MODEL T". Our 1939 Ford coupe "MY1939". Adding a number saved quite a bit.-------In Florida vanity plates are too expensive so you don't see as many.

3AT WE was a personalized plate sceme that was requested here in California. It was issued to a 1962 Lincoln Continental. A full year later the California DMV revoked the sceme and voided it. It took them that long to figure it out. Now the state asks what the sceme is supposed to refer to when you fill out the application for a personalized license plate.

Apparently when seen in someones rear view mirror the plate sceme says EAT ME

A guy who used to live across the street from me had a plate that said "8BIT ME"

(I realize that I'm a geek and that appellation doesn't necessarily apply to everyone so...BITs and BYTEs are measurements of data. There are 8BITs in a BYTE.)

So many vanity plates only mean something to those who order them. As for Californians looking in their rear view mirrors, probably took over a year before anyone noticed that plate:rofl2:.

I have come up with a few, sadly here in Az you have to pay 25 bucks up front. The another 25 bucks a year on top of your normal registration! Yeah, sorry Az ain't gunna happen.

You even have to pay that for our centennial plate, if its customized it'll be 50 bucks a year!

But I may get the "historic" copper plates next summer when the tabs run out. Those only cost an extra 10 bucks per year.
