I notice alot of college kids doing most of the protesting and I am gonna bet most of them are overdrawn on their own personal checking accounts on a consistent basis.

That isn't scary... What is scary is that politicians wanting to get reelected listen to these lunatics, and attempt to give them what they want. It equates to more votes. It all started with Lyndon Johnson's Great Society and has been a down hill slide ever since. Even Lady Bird Johnson got into the act with a "Beautify America" campaign, which was the start of the closing of all the old junk yards in the early 1960's. Your children, and my great, great, grandchildren are going to be the ones to really suffer when all the payments come due to pay for all this crap.

I find every one of their demands deeply disturbing. They would be so much happier living in a communist country. I just don't want this country to be it.

I know it's never good policy to discuss politics or religion on our forum, but with that being said, I have to say these "occupy wall streeters" are absolutely ridiculous. I bet if, instead of protesting out in front of Goldman Sachs, etc, they went in and filled out a job application, they might just get employed. What a waste of time and effort. The "demands" they propose are so naive, unrealistic and would spell nothing less than world wide financial ruin. Do they really think such idealistic proposals will work; I'd hate to think they're that stupid. Plus, I'll bet 90% of the protesters don't even know what their demands are; they're probably there because they don't have anything better to do.
Anyway, that's what I think about the whole thing. Sorry if I offended anybody.

    My opinion?
It's a smoke screen to get the White House's new 'stimulus' package passed with-out the public noticing.

Just look at who is behind it... the Unions!
Who did this administration pay off with the earlier stimulus... the Unions!
    :yup:

these *******s need to learn that no one owes them a damn thing.
we are short a driver...have been for a while. when i worked at lowes we were always short handed. it irritated the crap out of me. the jobs are there..people just don't want to work because its not the job they want.
do you think i wanted to work at lowes? no, i did it to feed my family!

i have student loans...20 grand in fact. when i lost my job a year out of college i couldnt get a differment and my field was so crowded that people started at minimum wage with a 4 yr degree. so guess what i did?
i went to lowes and applied to do what ever would make me a paycheck.
and i am actually doing better than i was before i lost my job. took me a few years but im none the worse for wear. and i gained some humility too!

this is a bunch of idiot college students being told to revolt...by their professors and union stewards.
Oh, and don't get me started on that scam! Unions were started to protect the workers rights, to ensure a safe work environtment. well, now that there are laws in place to ensure both..one would think that the unions would lessen or change roles yet they've grown. but now they feed on the narrow minded. The organizers beat into the workers heads that they are being abused or taken advantage of. and then they believe it...sort of a stockholm syndrome. they advocate violence to get their way. and the heads (i.e. richard trumpka) make millions a year off the backs of the guys who actually do the work.

I come from a union family.. a union was formed in my great grandfathers basement. And if he saw what has become of them he would die of shame!

That which you do not earn... is worthless!.

    hows this for a quote
2 thesselonians 3:10 "if a man doesn't want to work, niether should he be allowed to eat"

I have to admit, as a 60 year old white man living in Florida, I still don't quite get what these young people are all about.
But they seem to be on a certain wavelength that they get, and there sure are a lot of them.
They could be spending their time just hanging out, wasting time playing video games in their parents basement, but they feel so strongly about this (?) that they felt called to make their feelings known. And you have to admire their idealism. And the ones I've seen on the TV seem to be pretty articulate and not stupid.
So I sort of get the thing where corporations. who exist for profit above all else (see the movie Wall Street) have made life tough for the middle class and the poor.
(BTW I've worked since I was 13, and never taken a government handout.)
    So what DO they want?
Here's an article that tries to explain it, and I think I'm beginning to sort of get where these people are going. Maybe.
Anyway, here's the link, good luck:

I remember trying to stop a war back about a million years ago, and the old farts didn't get us, then, either.
    Turns out we were right.
    Will these protesters get anywhere?
    Damfino.
But the "establishment" is way overdue for some shaking up, so maybe this is where it starts?

I disagree. We were wrong to protest the war in Vietnam. North Vietnamese General Giap mentioned in his memoirs: "What we still don't understand is why you Americans stopped the bombing of Hanoi. You had us on the ropes. If you had pressed us a little harder, just for another day or two, we were ready to surrender! It was the same at the battles of TET. You defeated us! We knew it, and we thought you knew it. "

The public outcry and media continually pouring young blood at the feet of the viewing Americans was what lost us the war. And it has been what has lost every war (Other than Iraq) since.

If there had been no protests the war would have been won and done in a very short time. Instead it got drug out over three administrations and used as a political tool each time.

However, it is the right of the constitution that we have the right to redress our grievances. I applaud those who try and make a stand, right or wrong, because it's the American way.
BUT, we Americans must do our due diligence!
We have to look and see WHAT is the underlaying reason for the protest and see if it is valid or not and who or what is the cause.
In this case... I see Union signs bandied about. I see an administration not making speeches for a change. And I see a list of demands that are totally unrealistic.

    So I cry fowl.

Incidentally, 2,000,000 innocent men, women and children were murdered between 1975 - 1979 after we pulled out of Vietnam.

I'm so tired of the 'tax and spend' agenda. It doesn't work. You should get what you earn. Work for a living. Can't find a job? Thank outsourcing, consumers fuel it.

Someone reminded me of the "new" encyclopedia, Wikipedia.
Here's the link and a short quote, and I'm out before this winds up getting ......less than civil.
After all, this IS a car forum, not a political mud wrestling one.
