Wagons in vintage Street scenes

Originally planned as an Edsel model, it was hoped that the addition of the Comet would boost sagging Edsel sales. Once the Edsel was dropped, it was simply marketed at a Comet, not officially becoming a Mercury model until 1962. Here are photos of a station wagon clay model that bears the Edsel name.

 

Watts riots, Los Angeles, 1965. 34 killed, over 1,000 injured, over 3,400 arrested. My wife (age 10 at the time) was living in the South Bay area, about 20+ miles away. She remembers her parents getting anxious about the riots expanding into the suburbs, so they packed up the car and headed to San Diego fo a few days.....

Austin Healy Sprite

Back in 1960 we bought a new 1960 Maroon Austin Healy sprite with the extra fibreglass hardtop. After destroying the little engine twice I ripped it out and stuck in a 327 Chevy and Powerglide using crude chisels and hand tools. Friend welded my new boxed frame. ---------Thanks for the memories!

 

ADORABLE ! Today, I drove the gigantic custom cruiser to sister's house , 'bout half hour away , to show it off. Waited out side...put down tailgate...sat on it..and swung my feet while taking in the breeze. Just like the kids in the photo... HEAVEN.... Just had a birthday...ya wouldn't know it. LOL I'm actually still 8 y.o. haha Great photos.
