Looks like the rear wheel edges are damaged, we cannot quite judge how bad the damage is and whteher the spots are rust or dirt.

No price mentioned, so I guess it will not be a cheap one, but you'll never know. Looks great at first sight...

That second one (Is it black?) looks beautiful in that one photo. Need more info though...

That first one I would guess was abused, based on the 'care' in which the owner displayed it in the photos......didn't even bother to clean it.

 

Your best bet is from the southwest and parts of the northwest of the US. You will find more rust free vehicles. However the exterior and interior may have sun damage.

What Tedy said. You don't need to be shipping rust to the Netherlands. Those of us that live here can look at where the car is from and then look at the specific areas that will be affected by winter use.

I like the last two ones, found them yesterday and sent an email to the sellers, no reply yet. These are Californian cars as well, so if there is no forum member living there I have the same problem as with the one in Hemet.

 

One other thing to keep in mind that you probably already know is that the 302 was equipped with EFI from 86 up. Prior years had the carburetor.

The seller of this white car has sent me some emails, but could not send me more pictures. He allowed car inspection but since I have asked him for his address etc I have not heard from him anymore (3 days ago).

 

OK...so I am no longer going to look for anything but the 86 and 87. For a DD the EFI is a great thing to have and you may as well have exactly the car you want. Please be patient, Ina...there is a cherry 86 or 87 wagon out there for you that will show up eventually and there ARE members here that live on the west coast and some in L.A. specifically. They just don't show up on the forum as often as some of us. These wagons ARE out there and show up periodically. I have seen some beauties in my time here on the forum. By the way, the Northwest has good rust free cars too. I lived in L.A. for awhile and I will say that California seems to have the perfect climate for the preservation of cars. Never saw so many beautiful old cars driving around as I did in L.A. But there ARE other areas, too. I know that the port is a big plus but a good cherry wagon that you really want may be worth getting to a port. Not trying to tell you what to do...just trying to help in any way I can. Not all sellers are polite or honest so we, here at the forum, try to help buyers in any way possible.

 

I understand, I appreciate your help and advice . The only thing that makes me a bit inpatient is the fact that I do not have a proper daily driver right now, only very old classics which are nice but I drive more than 60 miles a day, 4 days a week... and I have dogs too...

 

Your predicament is duly noted. Still...it would be devastating to spend the money for the car and shipping to the Netherlands only to have the car be rusted in critical areas and/or to have it be a trouble prone money pit. Seems that it may be a better idea to buy a cheapy commuter car for now and wait to get a wagon that you would be as happy with as the one you had. I just don't want to see you and Maarten rush into something that will continue to cost you money down the road. Again, this is all your decision. But...it is difficult enough to buy a good car on this side of the pond when you live here. Buying a car that is here from pix to then send to the Netherlands is risky without help from this end.
Anyway...I will keep looking and I'm sure others here will as well. We can only hope something pops up soon.
