Every once in a while, this pretty 62 Catalina wagon shows up at the local cruise in at Manassas, Virginia. Finally, today I happened to have my camera with me when it showed up. The bucket seats are kind of cool to see in a wagon. You can see a few more pictures of this wagon and other cars that show up at this cruise in on my Facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.185111388202586.43330.100001111775214&l=43f293199a and some additional photos from previous Saturday evening cruise ins at Manassas here http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.101636773216715.732.100001111775214&l=8411b4968c
Neat car show photos. I believe I've seen pics of that Catalina wagon before. I seem to remember something to the effect that the wagon came that way, with the bucket seats, from the factory.
Sweet! Anybody know what that thing is on the dash? Doesn't quite look like a radar detector.. Camera?
Interesting... I knew they had those back then, and even back to '58, but I don't think I'd seen any of them. It just looked a little modern sitting there.
Hey...it does look modern. It could BE a camera or something. Most of the magic eye dimmers that were on my old cars were mounted on the left side of the dash and not in the center.
I remember those, here's Wiki link on them...........their complexity sounds kinda scary, lol. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_headlight_dimmer
Compass would be a good guess, I think most of the auto dimming modules were over on the drivers side when they were dash mounted, to better be in the driver's vision field I suppose.
Darn near automotive perfection from my perspective... Great year, great model, great body style, great stance, nicely optioned and I absolutely love that color combo! I really like the R-2 rims as well tho I think a set of 8 logs on the big hubs would be awfully nice too...
