Sadly, most stories of a wagons past are picked up in bits of pieces what is found under the rear seats or scraps of paper found in the glove box. My '78 Country Squire has most of the documentation since it was built and sold at a now defunct Ford dealer outside Chicago. My '73 Buick wagon, other than my buddy owning for 10 years with 10k miles of driving it, there is little history about it.

This is a story of a '74 Chevrolet Malibu wagon in 1978 with two nurses going back to Canada from Texas.

That is one of the coolest-looking restored police vehicles I've ever seen....
    Nice story, too.

I found the story by accident. There is a salvage yard in the north part of my town with a lot of old iron. I googled the salvage yard's name and stumbled on to the story.

Do you know if Holt's is still open?
I'm originally from Tennessee and spent many hours at Holts back in the 1980s. The owner, Mr. Claude, was not the friendliest, but his collection was definitely worth tolerating the attitude! I recall he had an actual USAF 1962 Plymouth wagon in the yard, along with 5,000 other cars (as he used to boast!)

That's a terrific story, although it does mention a portable crusher in the salvage yard!! :49:

It's still there. I wanted to find any info on it because I wanted to see if I could wander through the yard. Most of the stories I've heard was he wasn't friendly and thought his parts were made of gold. I think they did go and crush a bunch though. In a few cases here, as soon as I open my mouth and talk, people's demeanor changes when they hear my "yankee" accent. Being he isn't too friendly to locals, I'm not even going to try. :D

    Crush 'Em

They'll crush em but when someone wants to buy one they jack the price way up. Seems like adding $50-$100 to the scrap price might save a few more from the crusher. Just happened to think, that savage yard looks like a nice place to wander around barefoot scroungin parts.:rofl2:

The most I know about my wagons is:

I drove past my Caprice sitting in my neighbor's driveway for about a decade before I bought it off of him. His brother owned it before him, that's all the history I have.

My Colony Park, the only papers I have is a copy of the original title. Old folks, Harold and Vivian if memory serves me are the names on the title.
