That engine looks like an ecotec but it can't be. The car is too old.

SF. you would have seen maybe just a few of the little hatchback versions here in the U.S. (that's the body that's in the exploted parts view..). No wagons like this one were imported here.

So....it IS a Hillman. What model? I sure never saw a Hillman with a rear engined Lotus engine. I never would have thought the car could handle it.

Wish we could get away from the foreign cars. I have a hard enough time with the AMERICAN cars! But then....many would guess them right away I suppose.
Is that new one by Barto an Opel?

It's a Hillman Husky, just like that earlier one that was posted up - just a newer model (1969). The Hillman Imp was imported to the US, but not too many were sold....would have competed with the VW Bug.

Fox, I never said it was a Lotus engine. In the early times Lotus used a boosted Coventry Climax engine. It was a stationnary engine made for water pump. I said the Hillman engine used the same base (but looking at the picture of the Hilman engine I'm asking myself if I'm not wrong :49:).

Anyway, the ugly pet hearse is a HILLMAN HUSKY. I'm quite sure I've seen one recently on this forum (a white one, dismantled and for sale probably on e-bay or on Craiglist)

    Remember next one is...

It's not a OPEL Fox (BTH, which Opel do you have in mind that could look like that thing ?).

And BTW, I'll be more than pleased to see more American wagons in this topic... I would learn more about them.

I guessed Opel because that's probably as close as I will get to the correct answer.:biglaugh: I don't know foreign cars and I don't have the slightest clue as to what this wagon brand could be. Or even what country it could be from.

So far I'm stumped on this one.
Left-hand drive. One in first picture seems to have aftermarket wheels on it - oversized, plus it's obviously a sportier model than the plain white one. The shape and styling reminds me of South American vehicles, but so far haven't found anything close. 2-door wagons sem to be popular there. That clamshell hood design should be easy to find.

Sorry fox, Opel never made anything like this...
The design of this car is very typical of the products of this car maker at this period (in the 70's and 80's, other models from the same car maker looks the same with the same clamshell bonnet).
It's a small car, far smaller than an Opel or a Saab. I'll look at its size to give you an idea and will tell you ASAP.
    It's a popular.
The white one is registered in the origin country, the grey one (with big foots) is registered in Brazil, a country were I think they were popular as well.
To say the truth, I didn't knew about this wagon versionbefore i found it on the web, looking at something to amaze you.. I've never seen one in the flesh here in Belgium in wagon version, but saloons (2 doors with a hatch) were popular all over Europe.

    Edit:
    Dimensions are: length 3.90 m x 1.55 m large.
Engines were 4 pots, FWD, from 1050 to 1300 cc
