Just catching up on the forum after the holidays. I was shocked to see the broken sunroof... I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there is a solution to making this happen still, and I'd also throw in to the pot if the opportunity arises... First class group all the way on this forum!!!!!
Tough break on the glass roof. What year and model is it from? I'm sure we can source a replacement glass, so why not go to a plexiglass vendor and ask him who can curve their products around town (or statewide)? I bought some from one wholesale vendor with glass coating for the rear casement windows facing the alley. Kids used to throw snowballs to break them. Now it doesn't matter. 8 years later, they still look great, no milky fuzziness, no scratches from washing, etc. In the meanwhile, you could go ahead, and fit it in. Just a thought...
YEAH, What Normie said Dave. We want Year, Make, and Model of the donor PAHLEEZ. JES CUZ IT AIN'T AH MOPAR THAT DON'T MEAN I AIN'T GOT CONTACTS SCATTERED 'ROUND THE COUNTRY. LET US ALL KNOW AND WE'RE ON THE HUNT, Jer
Jeffrey, I am all thawed out, and ready to get back to work on this thing! The weather is finally beautiful, and tomorrow will be sunny and 70! David
David, What a huge bummer! You'd think that after your generousity in sending me your extra power option stuff (all at no charge!!!!!), you'd have been "paid foward" on this. Hope all else is well, and let's see some more pics! Adam
Left field idea, how about using a metal panel instead of glass? Not as cool but may be a work around.
If I ever put a sunroof in it, it will be a metal panel system. I was always planning on covering this glass one with the same vinyl for the rest of the roof, because GM didn't offer glass sunroofs until 1975. But, alas, I think this sunroof idea is DOA. I plan to have time in March to work on this and really make some progress, so I won't be waiting for a sunroof. This shattered sunroof ended up costing me $200 when it was all said and done , so that pretty well shot down that whole idea. :Blasting_anim: David
should i feel responsible in some way?..... sorry to hear pal.....i'll settle for droolin down the doors
AAAARRRGGGHH! :banghead3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TDqvD34hEA Well, this beautiful morning, I got up, had some Wheaties and coffee, and just had the feeling this was as about as good as the day was going to get. Oh yeah, I was so right. Shoulda just gone back to bed! I worked all day on my wagon, but it was a little too windy to put my vinyl top on. So, late in the day, I turned my attention to taking the windshield out of my parts car...a perfect, unscratched, unchipped windshield I had planned to use for this project since day one. So much for plans. I was almost done cutting through the butyl goo to remove this thing, when CRACK! Oh man! What a bummer! My wagon's original windshield isn't terrible, but it does have a bullseye stone chip and slight wiper scratches. I will also look for a new one. David
